Mammern district heating network
Regional forestry timber – heat for Mammern
The district heating network in Mammern is operated by the Mammern district heating network cooperative. Fernheizzentrale Mammern GmbH supplies the thermal energy from regional forestry wood.
Since December 4, 2023, the Mammern district heating center has been reliably supplying heat to the district heating network
Back in September 2023, two Schmid wood combustion systems, two electrostatic precipitators and a heat storage unit were installed in the Mammern district heating center. After assembly, the two moving grate combustion systems were gradually transferred to regular operation, technically adjusted and optimized for maximum efficiency.
The heating plant has been reliably supplying heat to the Mammern district heating network since December 4, 2023. Thanks to the modern technology, the system can be further optimized as required via Telemaintenance so that the system is set efficiently even under changing conditions.
Wide range of fuels – Schmid combustion plant an “all-rounder”
Fernheizzentrale Mammern GmbH obtains the required fuel from the regional forestry companies. In order to ensure that all parties involved can plan ahead, the fuel supplies have been set out in an agreement.
For the Mammern district heating center, this means that the availability of fuel from the region is guaranteed, but the quality and moisture content of fuel fluctuates. Changing fuel qualities and combustion plants are an important criterion when choosing the right firing system.
The moving grate combustion systems from Schmid are designed precisely for these conditions. Thanks to the special design of the grate and the sophisticated technology, high efficiencies with the lowest emissions are possible with these combustion plants.
